I am so excited to share our 2022 ceramics projects! Last year we didn't get to do clay because of Covid, so the kids were really excited. The projects descend in order from 6th grade down to 1st. Please see below for more information.

Liliko'i, gr. 6

5th-3rd grades used "slip-n-score" to attach the different parts. The 6th graders used a more advanced method; they actually "glued" their projects together with glaze which makes it easier to get good glaze coverage. I am so impressed with their creativity and skill!

1st and 2nd grade used the "pinch and pull" method which means that you manipulate one piece of clay (rather that attach pieces together) into the shape that you want.

In 3RD GRADE we usually do owls, but they asked if we could do chickens instead and it eventually morphed into any kind of bird they wanted. They made chickens, peacocks, a finch and various made up birds. I love how imaginative they were. This is what happens when you let kids lead. Their imaginations go wild!
