Art Show
Every year, we hold an art show as a way to showcase the talent of the students here at Sacred Hearts Academy. The featured grade hosts the event, and acts as a guide to the other grades, walking around with them, and explaining their projects. My goals related to the event include: helping to foster art appreciation and etiquette, build a community of artists, and to provide an opportunity for students to share their projects with our SHA ohana.
Poster Contests
Students have several opportunities to enter art contests throughout the year. But, the main one is sponsored by the Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation The theme of the contest encourages our students to “dream big and make Hawaii a better place.” This contest is a great opportunity for our children to think deeply about problems that they've observed in their community and to brainstorm solutions to them; then visually communicate their ideas using skills that they've learned in art class. The winning artists are celebrated at an awards ceremony and their posters are displayed at Kahala Mall.
