Jaiden, gr. 6 - 1st Place DIGITAL
Every year our school makes posters for the Clarence TC Ching Poster Contest which asks students to think deeply about real problems AND solutions to Hawaii's (and the World's) biggest challenges.

Evelyn, gr. 1 - First Place
To begin the assignment, we brainstormed about problems that they have observed in their own lives, heard their parents discussing or witnessed on the news. Students were encouraged to discuss their poster idea with their family, and for the older students to research their topic. As usual, I was very impressed and moved by their heartfelt and thoughtful responses. A lot of discussion was devoted to possible soutions to offer through their art work before we started drawing.

Kaila K-I, gr. 6 - 2nd Place DIGITAL
This assignment was started at home during the first couple weeks of school when we were all online. Then those who started in-person school finshed it on campus during art class.

Elizabeth M., Gr. 2 - 2nd Place
Grade 6, made digital posters using Procreate, while the rest of the students used, markers watercolors, colored pencils and oil pastels. We should be finding out who the winners are in late January or early February. Our students will be competing against students from around the state, so let's wish them some luck, and enjoy their beautiful work! Here are the rest of the winners.
