Paper Mache Food

One of the most fun projects that we did this summer was making a paper mache version of our favorite food.

Using newspaper to press, squeeze and mold the shape takes some getting used to. We are not used to thinking of paper as being a sculpture material. But, after the kids had some experience with clay they started to get the hang of it. We used many layers of paper and paper mache glue to build up the shape, and then added details with paint and collage materials such as felt, pipe cleaners, tissue paper, pom poms and confetti.
