This assingment began with us practicing drawing each other in different poses so that the children could learn how to draw people with bent limbs. Next, we looked at the work of Marc Chagall. Through his paintings they discovered that art is not only a great way to express your emotions through color, but it can also tell a story about how you feel about your loved ones.

One the main goals of this project was to learn about symbolism and metaphor. For example, we discussed how an animal can represent a certain quality in a person that you appreciate, like a Mother hen who protectively takes care of her young. And, how flowers can symbolize love.

I asked the students to show themselves floating above the activity that they enjoy doing most with their loved one as a sort of tribute to that person.
