First the girls drew their hands using the contour drawing method. They were supposed to keep the pencil on the paper, trying not to lift it up as much as possible. We talked about how the fingers are not all the same length, and where the thumb starts on the hand. They looked very carefully for lines and wrinkles, and at the shape of the finger nails, noticing that there is skin on both sides of the fingernail. Next they added creative details like scars, broken or extra-long fingernails, and hairy knuckles! :-) Finally, they colored it in using watercolor paint, and were asked to use warm and cool colors (one for the foreground and one for the background) to help the hands jump off the page!
